Loss of top end, VTEC works -secondary butterflies?
Sometimes higher rpm in my jdm h22 feels a little rough. I have been going through all my vacuum lines and noticed that the hose going from the intake control solenoid valve down to the intake control diaphragm is disconected. Honda says that this controls the secondary butterflies. I always thought that the diaphragm to the right of the intake manifold controled this. I would just plug it in but its in an Accord and I cant find the intake control diaphragm. Any help to get this thing running perfect would be helpful.
-so the thing next to my battery controls the flapper in the air intake (which is replaced by CAI) But how do I check the butterflies in the manifold? If I rev up the engine past 4800 and the diapragm does not move hen its not working?
The butterflies are already open and continue to stay open if there is no vaccuum line connected to the solenoid which would mean you would be losing low end power if anything. I'd say your problem isn't related to the butterflys.
When you say rough, are you saying that it is actually rough, or it's just not pulling very hard?

It is not pulling very hard and seems like it doesnt want to rev that high. Also about what you said about the butterflies, they should close at topend rpm so that less air is feeding the motor?

No, the butterflies should close when the engine is running from idle to around 5,000 and then open above ~5,000 RPM to allow more air into the engine. If the vacuum hose isn't connected to the solenoid, the butterflies will stay open the entire time.
How old is your clutch? It could be slipping in the higher RPM range.
A tuneup couldn't hurt either: fuel filter, plugs, wires, etc..

The clutch is fine and the wires and plugs are new. I am going to install my msd ignition, my stock one might be going. Everything is connected with the diaphragm that opens the butterflies, but that check valve from the manifold might be leaking.
