IF you had it to do over again
If you had it all to do over a gain what would you change to save some time and hassle, some money or to go faster. Did you spend too much on a manifold that wasnt worth the performance gains, should you have gone with a different tranny, or axles. Did you spend to much time and money on a fuel system that wasnt really neccesary. Did you get to big a set of slicks, or not big enough. Do you wish you got trac bars earlier, or that you didnt buy some part that you had to replace latter to meet your goals.
Reason i'm asking is I'm trying to build a 10sec street driven DC2. My parts pile is growing and i'm not affraid to spend money. I am however very opposed to wasting it. I feel the same way about time. If there is anything you learned or regret that you want to hand down to the next guy building his **** up, say it now.

not exactly what i was going for, but why do you say that. Do you thnk that your hobby hasnt been fofilling considering the $ spent
The only thing i woulda done differant is i wish i wouldnt have wasted all the time and money building the car for car shows... Back when i got the car in late 96, i wanted both a show car and race car, but could only afford one... I was realy into Import Drag racing, but at the time couldnt afford it, so i went with creating a show car...
I'm very glad i made the switch a couple years ago from car shows to drag racing, just wish i woulda done it sooner...
Mike...

No it was a ton of fun, no question. But I wouldnt do it again, unless I had tons of extra cash sitting around. But with out a doubt it was fun while it lasted.
i wish for my first civic i didnt pay for a 500 for a body kit and another 500 to get it put on, then another 1000 to get the damn thing painted. that's a good 2k bucks i coulda spent on the motor since it was already turboed.
First i wouldnt of tryed to make it into a show car. Because that set me back. Then buying back all the stocks body parts killed me. On my third motor i wished i woulda put the LS bottom on it and bored it out alot more......... But no shoulda coulda woulda!!

I agree with Robb.....but if you are going to do it; do it right the first time.
It sucks to find a weak link in your system that you thought you could cut a corner and save $40 at the time, then it cost you $300 to do it right plus your time.

i wouldnt of ever gotten married and maybe have a car worth playing with the big boys at the races by now lol, but the vw is in the works....and yes the marriage has ended
i wouldnt have sold my daily driver....
and tried to convert my "track" car back to a street car.
i wouldve just CUT UP my track car... and kept my daily driver , or bought a daily driver truck

that i've already learned, although i do think honda guys tend to over-engineer ****. From a reliability standpoint i plan to do everything, "Right the first time". Doing this in budget means i may have to sacrafise some power though.

Exactly. Built bottom end sohc in my crx turbo. I spent 5k on the car, built bottom end, and homemade turbo kit. 19psi on a v-afc is the suxxor.
Tuning first, everything else second.

well, i am doing it over again............i'm glad i've gone with the dedicated track car idea as apposed to a daily driver. i have so much more freedom to really do what i want
I've got a list:
1). Never wasted time/parts/money running cars on (true) street tires.
2). Never wasted time trying to make a fast/cheap NA car cause' cheap, fast and NA do not belong in the same sentence.
3). Kept my LS-T
4). Kept things more "simple".
5). Not changed my mind every week and wasted thousands.
6) Last but, certainly not least, Done everything right the first time!!!!
Phil

if i could do it all over again i would have keep my single cam vtec and turbo'd that instead of swaping in a B16 and turboing that and i would bought slicks and traction bars before a turbo kit
i wish i didn't waste money on all motor parts.. and just went turbo from the start!
and that i never cut (drilled) my fenders for side markers, gotta get some stock ones. kinda a small "do over"
