Quick question on Auto tensioner
I have searched but no luck.. My question is, does the auto tensioner needs to be reset? Honda stated that the crank pulley needs to be turned counter clockwise for the tensioner to be reset.. Do I really need to do this?

I don't know, I never could get the auto tensioner to work right. I bought one new from honda, and it came with a little bracket that held it down. I put the timing belt on, then pulled the bracket off and it snapped into place. One week later it died on me (I hear that's not too uncommon). H23 manual tensioner conversion is a great idea though, just find a junkyard and you can get the parts for $20 or so.

It doesn't make any difference at all until it fails on you. This is just a part that I've heard some horror stories about. That's why I converted to the manual tensioner system, it's simple and fool proof. The last thing you want is your timing belt coming off or skipping teeth while you're at 7 grand. I'm not saying that will happen, but for me the $20 at a junkyard and the hour it took to redo my timing belt is well worth it for the piece of mind.

you have to take the screw out of the autotenttioner and turn it to back the tention off, and then there is a tool that is used to hold it compressed while you install everything, then once you install it and the timing belt, take the retaining device off and rotate the crank a couple of times and it will auto tention .. lol
