HID HEADLIGHT SYSTEM AND HEADLAMP Q & A?
I'M REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO. I'M LOOKING FOR SOME ADVICE ABOUT GETTING THE Kaixen 9005 (6000K) HID Headlight System FOR MY ACCORD OR THE OR 04 Honda Accord Projector Headlights Black Housing Blue Ion Lens w/ Halo Rings. WELL AS YOU CAN GUESS I LIKE THE COLOR BLUE. SO MY QUESTION IS SHOULD I SPEND THE 300 AND CHANGE ON THE HID HEADLIGHT SYSTEM OR SHOULD I JUST GO FOR THE HEADLAMPS?
Well I would get the HID kit. Aftermarket projector headlights typically are crap. That's just my opinion. But if the only reason you are considering the HID kit is because they are blue you might as well just get some blue headlight bulbs.
Also, please do not yell (type in caps).

if you want both (1) bright and (2)white (or bluish, in your case), there are two options: high-wattage halogen bulbs with tinted glass, or HID. the high-wattage option is typically illegal, but i have a friend who's had this type of bulb on his celica for two years w/o a problem from cops. they also burn much hotter than standard halogen (55-60w), so you run the risk of melting parts in your headlight housing. but they sure are cheaper than HID and much easier to install. hid is the true way to get good quality light, id recommend this route if you have the money and time to do some decent research. just dont buy the frist thing you come across, do your hw. aftermarket projector housings are cheap, ricey, and ill-fitting imo. just my 2cents
HIDs, hands down. if you're on a budget, stick with the oem halogens.. theyre actually brigher than the whiter-looking aftermarket bulbs (unless you go high wattage)
Thanks for the input. Yeah I had the bulbs in my last car and the did lots of damage to the headlamps. Yeah i'm looking around and finding out what is still the best to get.

eh, halo belongs on e46 and 5series imo.. i'd say to just stick with hid. you also might run into complications with fitment/fabrication if you try to incorporate halos
If you want to do it right, retrofit an HID kit. Go to http://www.hidplanet.com and read up on the forums there, projectors are legal retrofits and will give you no glare.
I just added an HID kit to my car (no projectors) and I think it looks fine, it all depends on the housing. Some halogen housings look awful, some dont. Projectors are recommended because the glare wont bother other drivers eyes. You can do it yourself or take it to a local shop. Just check up on the forums on hidplanet and you can look and see if you can do it or not.
THis is what my 6th gen Accord looks with 5300k HID:
I'm on the left. You can see the glare isnt too bad at all.
Heres how the color and lighting is while driving:

FYI: for best lighting properties and true white color, stay between 4300 and 6000k. Anything higher will be blue or purple and anything below will just be halogen.

Yeah I did the same with my Accord. Looks great. But as accordselux said it all depends on the housing. I've had no complaints since getting my HID Kit. Probably the best investment I've made for my car.
HID kit is what I would go with but like said if you just want blue just go with some blue halogen bulbs I wouldn't go with the high wattage ones but there are plenty of stock wattage blue bulbs. The projectors usually make the light pattern so you can't see **** and I don't think they look that great on Accords although some look ok. HID's look nice and you can see a lot better with them but they also cost a lot. Cheap halogen bulbs are nice if you just want color you usually can't see as well as stock but can see fine with quality ones they have the HID look to them and are cheap.
hey sj993 and accordselux, how much did you guys invest in parts and/or labor? im assuming you guys did the install, but how much for the 6300k? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by hometheaterman »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">HID kit is what I would go with but like said if you just want blue just go with some blue halogen bulbs I wouldn't go with the high wattage ones but there are plenty of stock wattage blue bulbs. using below 4300k does NOT mean it will look like halogen, so please avoid blatant generalizations like that. oe hid typically falls in the 4100-4200 range. add another 1000-1500k and you get bluish. another 1000k and itll start looking purple.

My 5300k kit was 220 shipped and I put it in with another HT member in less than an hour.
OE HID is usually between 43 and 5300k, rhdune's BMW kit is 4700. 5300k up is blue, and roughly 6500k+ is purple. Different manufacturers use different colors, and projectors can alter the color of the lights, especially at cutoff.
If anyone goes above 6000k theyre an idiot, but thats just from the scientific standpoint.

You were mostly right anyway
The real problem is you cant tell in pictures, you can see the real color up close and pictures its really hard to get a good idea of the color...

if you have a digicam with a white balance function, take a white sheet of paper, or anything else that is true white, and set that color to equal white on your camera. then the colors should balance out properly, and youll get a more accurate reflection of colors.
Mine are 5300K and I paid around $275 for em. It was expensive but well worth it.
As far as labor goes, I put them in myself. Took about 30 minutes.

wowzers, i didnt realize how cheap HID is these days. i remember two years ago when HID kits cost 1000+. i also didnt realize how quick the installation would be, either. not doing a conversion anytime soon, but if u guys have installation pics, id be interested to see them. maybe you could even do a writeup for the ppl out there with your gen!
I seen alot of Hondas with HIDs, which I'm assuming is 8000K. In my opinion looks very nice. My friend also has an 8000K HID kit looks brighter then my HID kit (5000K).
Sorry, didn't quite answer your question, I would prefer the HID's over the projectors. They're about the same price, but the HIDs are way better, my friend has projectors on his 98 accord looks just like halogen, but with a better cutoff.

Are you using the stock harness?
You mentioned that projector retrofits are legal. Where did you hear that.
Also, the best lightout put [most lumens] is between 4300K and 4700K.

In actuality 5000k is much brighter. 4000-5300k is optimal then you WILL lose light. You'll get more color but the light wont be as powerful.
