I installed full race mani last night, it is hitting the AC lines BIG TIME, if I drive at all, the line would be melted very quickly.
I've seen MUCKMAN;s post on custom AC lines and I'll go this route IF I can't figure out anything better.
I thought about wrapping each line in a firesleeve, it would still sit up directly agains manifold still though. What are anyone's thoughts on this?
Edit: I thought about also moving the AC line as much as I could away from the Manifold towards the driver side of car but the line that comes up the middle between radiator and AC condensor will hit turbo. (You can see this really well in the 3rd pic on how it would hit the turbo)

would the reflective stuff be better or the regular orange looking firesleeve?
You can see an example of the firesleeve I'm talking about in the 3rd pic below between collector and block.

yea but not really, its great quality.
I tried to order one of the CRP manifolds but for months the guy dicked me around so I charged back my CC and bought a full race someone was selling who never used it.
You gotta expect something to not fit right on a car that doesn't originally come with a turbo.

That is correct sir.
wow that is dedfinately an older manifold! well there are a couple options
1) you can wrap the lines with either the silver or gold foil. I have some gold foil i can send you a chunk of
2) you can get a custom ac line made, this is the best option imo, and usually wont cost more than 25-30$ if you have a good hose place local
3) you can make a brakcet that pulls the line away from the manifold. I made one once for a car using the bracket under the ac condensor, and attaching it to the rad support.

Dont be a nutswinger
Im not hating, but i would expect something to fit damn well if you are paying 1200 for it. I know full race makes kick *** stuff, but its kick *** stuff that is expensive and is expensive for hopefully the reason of quality, not name brand.

thanks for the posts everyone, especially geoff!! Always great customer service!
I would also like to go the custom AC line route, I guess I'll just have to make some kind of braket to hold them out of the way so I can drive to the AC shop.
I don't have the tranny in yet so I'm hoping once I pop that bad boy in and put the tranny mounts in, the motor will not lean so far forward and some clearance may arise between the lines and mani.
Thanks again all!!

You knew I was going to chime in, didnt ya.
Custom AC lines will cost you alot more than 25-30 bucks. Its not so much material cost but the labor involved to custom bend everything. Plus you'll need to have the system discharged and recharged.
I love the look of a clean engine bay with lots of room for a turbo & manifold. Relocating the upper AC line is the best route IMO but you can certainly get by with heat wrapping them and pulling them back from the manifold with some zip ties or brackets.
*Edit: I dont have a ac relo kit for the EK yet.
But I will if there is enough demand.

muckman....Yup, I knew you'd post on this sooner or later, thanks!!
One thing I wanted to say though is this is an EG hatch, not EK. If you have a kit for the EG I may be interested. Id need some pics.
FFgeon, thats a good idea, maybe I'll try bending the line off the compressor, didn't even think of that.
I think maybe I'll cheap out and just bend lines and use firesleeve for now, then once the car has been running a while, get the ac lines re-made.
awesome ideas guys!! Thats why I love HT, when you got a problem, someone out there has tackled the same sitation and can help!!

THanks!

Make that 2. I have an inlinepro mani but every little bit of extra space helps.

I just got a new A/C line made for my accord. He pretty much replaced the rubber section in the middle with a longer rubber section. Giving me enough room to go up and over the manifold. They only charged me 45 bucks, but the A/C vaccum and fill was almost 140 bucks
Aeroquip or Goodridge firesleeve probably isn't a permanent solution. The firesleeve we used on an oil feed line that sits an inch away from the top of the exhaust manifold is starting to melt after a couple of years. The silicone outer layer starts to bubble even after driving the car around going to class and doing errands.
Best thing to do is bend them so they are at least 3/4" away and wrap them mine are away from my manifold and the ac is still good and cold
