I pick up a t3t4 turbo from ss auto chrome and just installed it today and turbo boosted twice and that it. My friend and I checked evrything before finding that its the turbo that was not working. I payed 400 awhile back and just had the time to install everything and this happens. Does anyone else have this happen to them with this turbo and what did you do. I know that their manifold suck. It look like I have to look for another turbo that work. I'm so bummed out.

 

Prepare to be hassled for buying an SSAC turbo. From what I've read, it seems to be a common problem with those turbos. Maybe you can call them and get a replacment since it's new. I was thinking about buying one since they're so cheap, but H-T has showed me the light. Sorry to hear about your bad luck though.. Hope things work out.

 

what facts and symthoms did u used to come to the conclusion that the turbo is bad?

seems people just jump into conclusions to quick

u havent said what happened!

is the turbo wheels stuck and wont move?
did the housings broke?
is if leaking oil all over?
not boosting can be a lot of things..
blown charge pipes , bad wastegate,clogged intercoller, etc etc etc

 

also keep in mind that MJM/down2turbos suck too
mine was fucked after a couple of minutes of driving (and even primed the turbo, had oil lines in , etc etc)

 

my down2turbo t3 kicks ***.. 2000 miles and still boosting.. it has the same amount of shaft play as it came to the door with.. which is almost none.

you have to use an oil restrictor with the down2turbos though.. or else they will leak oil.. even the seller said you need the restrictor..

look for them on ebay.. 375 shipped for a t3

mine wasn't a seal issue,
the actual shaft wobbles and was scraping against the compressor housing

 

Almost all brand new SSAC turbos are bad... so this makes sense.

 

Another prime example of why search rules!

In short, you're **** out of luck. You're not going to get your 300 or however many dollars you spent on it. You could have it rebuilt, but I doubt it'll be any better. Now, go spend money on a real turbo like a PTE, ITS, etc, and move on.

SS Autocrome is a worthless performance company like APC, OBX, Matrix and all others alike. People who buy such items from venders as these are being fooled, tricked, hussled.. Its like hey check out my new Walmart Turbo I got for $200.00 new, it says Garrett on the side and all.. Ha Ha.....

I'm sure those SSAC guys take the money from ebay etc and buy real parts for their personal cars. Perhaps they got a couple boxes mixed up?

Hopefully, It seems that people really buy alot off them on EBay, Sometimes I think that they have a bunch of user ID's that they sell and therefore never actually have a 'real' buyer

 

i mean i know everyone has alot of problems with ssautochrome but we have like honestly 3 cars with their manifolds and turbos. What are we doing so different that its working. I've been baffled by this for a few weeks now. I mean we have one car 6 + months and its working good. no cracks or anything then i hear about guys that have them for 2 days and the **** cracks. Weird ****. I'm just glad that all the cars we have work good. I'm not saying ssautochrome is a good company but i can't diss them unless our **** grenades or something. I heard the same stuff about the obx lsd that some have good luck and some people have bad luck. Its always more bad than good but i just wondering what is happening with everyone else?

There are imitation Garretts out there??? Scaryng me now...

 

I've had my SSAC manifold and Garrett turbo from them for about 4 months now and I love it... Maybe they shipped me a real one by mistake too? lol

 

mine is the xs-boost its the real deal. mad jdm powa yo
