Default Have a question about engine mounts

Hey guys. I have a 98 Accord V6 coupe. It's all stock. My front engine mount broke. The Honda dealer said the part will cost $170 and the labor would cost $215. Am i getting ripped off? Or is this a fair deal.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Wow that it is expensive for labor, it's not hard to replace the front motor mount. Do it yourself..

Do you need a engine lifter? You do right?

Nope you can do it without, if you need to raise the engine up a little use a jack.

Is it normal for the front engine mounts to break?

If you are constantly in the throttle, yes. That 3.0L is not exactly weak on output (although some here will disagree). When the engine works to move the car forward, most of the stress is on the front mount as it tries to keep the engine from tilting too far forward.

You can easily change the mount yourself of you have a pair of jackstands and a hydraulic jack. you put the front end on the stands or ramps and then take a 2*6by 12" and put it between the oil pan and jack. raise the jack enough to take the stress off of the front mount and then loosen it. jack it up a little more and remove it. reverse to install.

So is it simply unbolting and bolting on a couple of bolts? I do have a jackstand and a jack. I do have the normal took kit. Is it really that simple? About the most i can do i install springs, install air instake systems.

I just want to make sure that if i do it, i can do it and not stop because i can't and end up wasting my time. Please elaborate the details. 'Thank you.

If you are able to install springs you can install a mount no problem.

It is simple as hell and It would be hard for him to describe it any better.
