can't swap out a cut section of the floor. i still don't think you should cut anything, especially if you are driving it on the street.. and ever plan on competing in a street class at a sanctioned event. i don't know how often they come to ut though
anyways, just wanted to say it again, you might regret it

just swap originals w/cut up door to run. but if u dont want to do that go w/a cabon fiber hood and or trunk. U can also remove power steering, ac, seats....if u haven't already.

Yes go with street trim I agree on that. Most of the fast cars seem to be street cars these days.

ok my set up will run 18 for track and 15psi on the street dayly i dont want to be ppushin 18psi all the time so i figured to make my car as light as possivle i will be using full on slicks when needed cuz im not a big fan of track racing anyway i was thinkin this out.....
cut the floor part from the front seat back then replase it with thin metal like a 16ga then adding a cross brase on the floor and then just trow a small fuel cell.
anyway for now you guys dont think it will be much help to do the usual
-back seats
-stuff on the floor (sound something)
-all the pannels
and stuff

what! back halving your street car!? save the time and just build the motor more, id definately suggest the other options you mentioned (back seats, sound deadening, "panels" etc.) but it is your car. i didn't think id post it again, but personally i wouldn't cut it up and i don't see why anyone would suggest this for a street car
DONT cut the floor if u r goin to keep it as a street car!!!
its goin to be a bitch if u ever want to sell it later
just save ur money and build your motor or go w/a better set-up.
we cut the back, but it a track car

not to jack this thread or anything, but can i ask what exactly you did for reinforcement and how far did you cut? im prepping my chassis for track use only and i only cut the spare tire flooring out up to the rear crossmember and stopped because i thought if i cut anymore, the back of the car would be flimsy... how is yours?

just strip the dam thing
do like i did remove everysingle thing from the inside of the car, like nuts, brackets, sound deading material, carpets, panels everything.
then just throw in a gutted dash like i did, leave the door panels they weight nothing .
heres a pics
