help....4th gen prelude
hey i have a 94 prelude that i did a h22 jdm swap on. i was just wondering if anyone ever ran in to this, since the motor is jdm will i need to run a 5 wire distributor? and have an external coil pack? i heard that thats how the jdm cars are setup.... i have no spark at all and i am trying to figure out why.. thanks for the help!
Which wire harmess are you using? You can use the original dizzy and put the H22 spark plugwires on it if your using the original harmess.
Also do you have any check engine lights?

I just looked at my old order and I ended up ordering a distributor cap for a 5th gen because it has the 5th wire for the coil on it. And why do you need to order a new coil? Dont you have the one from your H23?

I found this thread deep in the archives.
Maybe it will help a little bit.
If not, you can learn something from it

I thought this thread had been covered before with exact wiring
instructions on how to do it.
I'll search a little more for ya later.

You still gonna have to rewire the harness to accept the internal coil.

Yes the stock coil has a connector for a plug. Thats how it gets power
Heres instructions for wiring a MSD coil for a 4th or 5th gen prelude. Maybe they will help you out.

this is what i am doing: taking my jdm dizzy and taking the internal coil out and running a 5th wire cap with a msd SS external coil. and where i am now is where do i hook the wires that the stock external coil plugs into on the msd coil pack? and the wires that go from the stock internal coil to the igniter chip where do i plug thoughs wires into?

When I had a msd blaster coil, I used terminals to stick into the connectors
and ran extra wire to the coil and soldered the connection there.
This way you don't have to splice the connector.
The black with yellow stripe and solid yellow wires both go to the positive.
The blue wire goes to the negative on the coil.
