Default Stock rods - might break at 9k rpm?

I'm building D16A9 - DOHC ZC engine.

Setup:
ENDYN Rollerwave high CR pistons - about 12:1
Ported and polished head
Crespo Stage 5 drag&track racing only camshafts + stronger valve springs
HM ITB
4-2-1, 2.25" exhaust

I will be using stock rods. Would it be safe to rev this motor up to 9k RPM?

I'll be the first to admit i dont know alot about d-series, but it seems as if you spent all that money on the rest of the build, it would just make sense to use something forged and not cut corners IMO. Just my .02

97L-esVeeTeg, you're right, but my last pennies went for those high CR pistons.
Who makes rods for D series? ARP is the company that makes rod bolts?

I want to know why rods break... only on boosted engines or even on high CR NA engines?

B16 engine is too expensive... and here in Europe you can get D16A9 engine anywhere, anytime, for $300.

I dont know which engines you have in USA, but in europe D16A9 came in 4th gen. Civic/CRX 1.6i 16V. It's very similar to DOHC ZC if not the same.

Give me some suggestions

Cam specs:
Very strong top end HP. Must use increased compression pistons (12:1 minimum), race prepped head porting, bigger injectors, throttle body, and header. Must use valve spring Pt. No. ACH-16. Radical idle. Likes stand alone management system. RPM range 3,000-9,000

Grind Number AC-H5
Advertised Duration Intake/Exhaust 303 / 302
Duration @ .050 Intake/Exhaust 260/ 260
Lobe Separation 110
Cam Lift Intake/Exhaust (in/mm) 283/256 - 7.20/6.50

dont run the stock rods, they are weak, at the least you can swap to b16 rods with arp bolts. but i would get soemthing forged, look on ebay i see rods for cheap all the time. you could spend 250 on ebay forged rods no or 1000+ for the pistons and head ect.. you destory from a rod failure. just be smart about it. are you building this engine or is a shop??

rods break cause of too much stress=higher RPM..there is alot of detail to this than just that though

all the ZC's ive seen have ZC stamped on the front..D16a9 are single cam Si motors..i think...i forget oh well

you cannot use B16 rods on a D16..use some Eagle rods they come with ARP bolts.

Do not run stock "D" series rods to 9000 RPM. With the small bore and valves it should not make power past 8000-8200 anyways, and I doubt that high unless you have spent money on the intake system.

4drsedaneg: you are right about it, that's why i'm asking. I'm bilding it on my own.

1.6i: Yes, your motors are stemped ZC, and i think D16A1 but in europe they are stemped D16A9. I think these motors are all the same, well i'm not 100% sure about the bottom end.

DonF: well, head's gonna be ported and polished, and i'll be running ITBs

Well, what about shot peening and micropolishing? I actually don't know much about it. Can someone explain me this procedure? I don't eve know who does something like that in my country.

Thanks for helping!
