problems with oxyacetyline welding..
ok for a class grade, we need to weld and braze 2 peice of band iron, .5 inch wide and like 2-4 inches long and has to at least hold 2500 of pressure on the tester that rips is apart. well i got the brazing down pat. but the welding, we butt the 2 peices together and well mine always snaps at the weld. its not suppose to, the metal is suppose to break, not the weld.
anyone know any tips? i think i will probably put more weld around the area, but should i make sure i get the metal hot enough?
thanks

ive only done oxy acetlyene welding a few times but i think its probably something to do with the speed which you are doing it at. i found that if i went to fast i got a terrible weld but if you relax and take your time you can create a strong weld.

agreed take it slow and make sure your weld pool is also large enough. it should be two to three times the width of the flame not the feather. also some preheat with the flame will help good luck
sweet i got a thumbs up
! oxy acetylene welding in my opinion is the hardest kind of welding. i did it first and found it hard but then tried mig and found that was super easy.
