Default ssqv air filter and fluttering....

hi, is the air filter thats included with the ssqv absolutely necessary? i tried blowing thru it and it's pretty damn restrictive.
also, neutral-revving will cause my bov to flutter (it's a vortech on a mustang), revving it to 3-4k rpm in neutral doesnt make boost in the manifold (get to around 10 vac?), but flutters pretty loudly. adjusting to both extremes of the adjustment screw still do it, i didn't notice if one was less than the other.
it's mounted on the pipe about 1.5ft of pipe from the tbody, with an 8" jrc intercooler, if that makes a difference.
hopefully the bov's not broken or something (doubt it), got it from ricky@wiredspeed when he had the deal going.

on a side note: sorry since this IS "HONDA"-tech, haha, but i dont really have anywhere else to go =/

you won't really hear the bov real good, unless you put a real load on it

yup, it wont blow off untill there is positive pressure in the manifold. and depending on spring setting you may need 2 PSI or 10 PSI to get it to blow off and not flutter.

wow, thanks alot guys. anyone have any info on the filter? i guess it probably isnt needed then?
if anyone wants to guess at it, it's an air filter that is inline with the vacuum connected to the bov. (supposed to protect it or something?)
