High RPMs but not picking up very much speed???
I have a 94 accord 5 speed and when i am in 2nd-5th gear and i accelerate my rpms go up VERY fast but im not picking up any speed (and no i dont have the clutch in ....im not sure if this is my clutch or a problem with my trany???? any help would be appriciated....i dont want this to get any worse...thanks for your help
Sounds like your clutch is slipping. how many miles are on your car, or when is the last time the clutch was replaced?
about 130K on the car im not sure when the clutch was last replaced if ever......im hoping it is the clutch and not the trany
I'd say your clutch is slipping like a bitch! And change the clutch yourself. Its not that hard if you got one or two strong friends. Just might learn something too!

compared to most generic american motors, that thing does have a pretty lofty redline. Impala base V6 stops at 5.5K I had a sable with a 4 banger (yes that's right a 4 banger) that topped out at a measly 5K. ford's 3.8L in the taurus stops at 5K as well with its power peak at about 4.5K
