Default will this work?

i have a d16y8, with intake header, & test pipe. was wondering if i put p29 pistons in it if i would need to change out the rods to withstand all that compression. i think i will be running about 12-4-1. then i was going to get a cam and cam gear, with a vtec controller anyone have any input? one more thing does anyone know how i can get my ecu chipped for all that ****? im not sure how that is done.

as far as the chip goes, are you obd1 or 2? if you are 2 you cant, till you convert to 1, and if you do an afc for a vtec controller you wont need a chip. and as far as your rods go, i cant answer that. but you may be ok as long as you stay away from boost and spray.

try 13.6:1 compression http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm

that is way too much for the gaskets to handle

No, no need to change them, however shot peening would not hurt

Cryo-treating would be even better!

Formula at the bottom???

When entering info for those pistons, make sure to use the correct piston to deck height. Typically it is stated to be .040", but I found mine to be .045". In terms of compression, thats only a little difference (.040-.045 that is).

to run this setup, you would ideally need a thicker than average headgasket, along with extra fuel and conservative timing. Unless you tune your a/f ratio and work your timing.

Blockguard is a little extra insurance, but only a handful of people running p29's use one
