Hey everybody!
I just did a massive search on Tranny fluids on H-T and I'm still not sure which I should go with. I'm going to be putting in a JDM ZC tranny into my 90 Hatch and I want to be sure to keep it running strong. I used regular multi grade oil (can't remember which brand) and then I switched to Royal Purple Syncromax and it ate up my tranny.
I heard that people swear by Honda MTF. And others say that it's not the best for hard driving or racing.
People mentioned that the GM stuff is great for the syncros, but is more expensive. And others say it's not as good as the Honda MTF.
I drive my car hard daily. On the street I rip through first and sometimes second. And I'm at the track almost weekly. So I need something to hold up that abuse.
Please help with anything...

Honda mtf works great for me.. On my old crx dx tranny, it started to grind a little into 2nd so I drained the tranny and put GM Syncromesh FM into it and it stopped the grind after like 10 miles..
I would say Honda MTF for good working trannies and GM Syncromesh FM for grinding trannies..

the parts guys at my local honda dealership say that honda MTF is just
"slightly more expensive 10w30, its the same damn thing"
thats why it works fine for good trannies. 10w30 works identially.

i use synchromesh and everyone that has driven my car can't believe how smoothly it shifts. It took about 2 or 3 weeks after initially putting it in but it got rid of my 3rd and 4th gear grinds. If you are going with a tranny that is already in good working order you might want to stick with the honda oem, then switch to the gm synchromesh if needed. As far as it being too expensive, it cost me about 35 dollars to put the synchromesh in myself, I dont see that as being too expensive if it makes my **** work better.
