Default Turbo XS RFL.... RF'n annoying! The POS rattles and humms... How to fix?

I've had the RFL for about three months now and haven't been able to get the rattle figured out...

When the car is idleing sometimes the valve is held open just enough so that the plunger vibrates against the housing and makes a super annoying humming sound... I hear it when I'm sitting at stop lights etc...

I have tried putting washers in it but it still stays open at idle just enough to rattle... right now I have two washers in there... should I just keep adding washers?

It's not really making that noise because it's open a bit at idle, its because the plunger to housing clearance seems a little off or something...

Has anyone else experienced this and been able to fix it?

I was thinking about taking it apart and putting some grease around where the plunger touches the housing, that might take care of the rattle... any ideas?

Sounds like u got a faulty RFL. I have had mine for over 2 years and never had a problem. Contact TurboXS and see if they will do an exchange.

i had the same problem once i put mine on. i was like wtf!! i put one washer in there and it hasnt done it since. it only makes a slight noise when i shut my car off and the valve closes.

either that or youre idling pretty low causing the vibrations? what are you idling at?

My idle is set to 800 rpms when it's warm, it sometimes idles a little lower... I guess that could be it. I am going to put another washer in there and grease up the plunger a bit, we'll see if that helps...

I re-checked my .bin and my idle is 850 cold, 750 warm...

Is that too low? Would increasing it a bit help it to not vibrate?

Turbo XS has excellent customer service. Give them a call. They'll probably send you a new one.

Okay, I think the problem is taken care of...

I added another washer so I have three now, and greased the plunger up...

But then I noticed that the grease was too sticky and was preventing the plunger from moving freely

So I took it apart again and wiped all the grease off.... works like a charm now and didn't hum at all on the way to work this morning! I think I am going to adjust my idle again this weekend when I do some tuning just to make sure...

Thanks for the help!
