Default rings seating and compression numbers.

Rebuilt the LS/Vtec got it running and only have 82 miles on it.
set-up
B18A1 bottom end
LS crank, shot peened LS rods, and USDM p72 pistons,p72 oil and water pumps
hasting rings and ACL bearings, block was honed and vated
B16A1 head
rebuilt,3 angle valve job, new seals, CTR dual valve springs,USDM GSR cams,AEM gears (+2,-2)
I know I might be too worried but it seems to be buring oil pretty bad and stinks as I am driving down the road. No big appearent smoke cloud but when its idling and I rev it up and look back I see some smoke. Brought it back home and did a compression test for the hell of it..

1--190 psi
2--200 psi
3--210 psi
4--225 psi

I added a few squirts of oil to #1 and it did not change it.

I have heard that these number will increase as the rings seat. Is this true?

Also did a vac. test for the hell of it.
Steady 19 Hg in at idle.

So any input? I am just worrying to much (1st rebuild) and the rings are just trying to seat, causing the oil burning smell and consumption?

could it do anything with my PCV set-up?
hose coming from one hole in the "blk box" to the block, other has PCV valve coming out of it to a hose to the intake manifold. And the hose coming off the valve cover to the intake pipe.

I need some help cause I got to drive the car to work..45-50 miles round trip..(all highway speeds, with a stuipdly short geared b16 tranny)

well I ended up not driving to work with it today. But it seems to feel strong, but I have not took it over 4500 rpm's yet....I did notice this evening that it does not smoke at idle , only when I give it gas does it smoke.

bought a leakdown tester today at work off the snap on truck, so maybe I will get around to doing a test after I put some miles on it....and the rings seat.....hopefully

got 160 miles now......compression has went up a little
1-210 psi
2-220 psi
3-220 psi
4-235 psi

Still have not got around to doing the leakdown test. Not so sure if I have the right way to do it figured out.

Set compressor at 100psi going into gauges, then adjust the gauge to the 0% on the second gauge and hook up the hose coming from the plug hole. Placing each cyl. at TDC as I test it.(what does the 1st gauge do or mean?)

Is that the correct way to do the test?

BTW...under 4500 rpms's the motor seems to run just fine. The LMA's seem to be making some noise though.

were the cylinders over-bored or just re-honed and you used standard size pistons?

how many miles were on that block? was it using any oil before the re-build?

I am not sure how many miles nor was it using oil. i bought it just as a bottom end. It looked to be in pretty good shape..

Time for some bigger cams and some of these: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=566420

The Lude LMAs work great in my LSVTEC..
