just turbo it. the longer ratios will work to your advantage. I have the accord tranny and it didnt seem that much slower than the luds. my best time without turbo was 15.8. The difference is not much.

Many would argue that the taller gears reflect the turbo motor's broad torque band or that taller gears let the turbocharger spool up fully. I have had both transmissons in my vehicle and with the setup I have, the f22's gearing is clearly the best.

well, I took nine passes. Maybe it was just shitty driving. All the times were consistant. Second gear syncros alittle worn out though.

do you mean that the f22 gears were the best for with the turbo or without

If your going to stay n/a, and just worried about the strip, go with the h22 trans! The f22 tranny doesn't like to shift a high rpms. First to second gear is not the best, rpm's aren't up, its definitely its downfall. Second to third is great! when you shift into third its at 5,500rpm. fourth is about the same.

the h22 tranny will be faster, whether you're turbo or not.
people argue the f22 tranny is better for turbo say they can 'spool up' longer. thats ridiculous. that simply says to me that your turbo is badly matched to the motor.
i'd like to de-bunk this. lets think about it:
in either instance, you will make the exact same hp at the exact same rpm, no matter what the tranny is. so the only thing that changes is the rpm/mph comparison.
at 4000 rpm, you make say 200hp. in second gear, that 200 hp is being made at 45 mph in the f22 tranny, and at 40 mph in the h22. do you see my point? sitting around making the same hp at a higher speed, which is what the f22 tranny will do, is useless because the guy in the lane next to you with h22 tranny is getting to the peak hp faster than you and when he shifts will be deeper in the powerband than you will - when you shift into third, would you prefer to be at 4000 rpm making 200 hp or at 5000 rpm making 215?
the h22 transmission gets you quicker down the quarter mile. period. in no circumstance has a longer-geared tranny gotten anything anywhere quicker. it can, however go faster- top end - so if you want to go to the salt flats, use the f22.
now as far as the people saying the f22 tranny doesnt like to shift at high rpms- this is generally only true because f22 trannies are older than h22 trannies. i've had both trannies open, and they're made of exactly the same stuff. same synchro material, same gear material. the difference is that the f22's are more worn.
i am running a f22 tranny on a h22. best quarter mile is a 14.9. in a month i'll be putting on my freshly rebuilt h22 tranny and will get you those comparison times you want.

Longer gearing may help you out in the 1/4 mile if you are currently shifting right before the trap. Ideally you want to be at the top of a gear when you cross the line.

Otherwise shorter gearing is faster.

One really nice thing about the F22 trans on an H22 is highway mileage. That's about the only reason I can think of to use one.
