Default Compustar has a mind of its own...

I am getting a bit frustrated with my compustar 2wss.

No matter what I do with passive arming the alarm will activate itself after closing the doors. Think of how bad this sucks when Im under the hood for general maint and the damn siren goes off in my ear.

Ive tried turing it off and turing it on (thinking it may be backwards for some reason). The indicator on the lcd does indicate that it is either on/off....but the brain continues to stay on passively armed.
I DONT WANT IT ON ALL THE TIME!

So far Im leaving it in valet mode almost constantly and its really starting to bug me.
Any suggestions other than "call your dealer" and "try pressing buttons II+III together" will be greatly appreciated.

I mean, its not supposed to do this, right?

uhh...just to get it straight, i believe passive arming is when the alarm arms itself in a certain amount of time

active arming is when you have to "actively" arm it yourself by pushing a button

thats correct
the active arming is when passive is turned off; automaticly changes. There is no active/manual arming mode.
Its just stuck in passive, even when I tell it not to be and remote says its not.............pisses me off

If the remote display says the Passive arming is off then that feature is not on.
One reason you think its still on is because when u disarm and do not open the door the alarm will rearm itself just incase the button was pressed on accident.
If you disarm and open a door then the alarm will not arm itself unless you do it.
This function is called active alarming.

nope...even if I open the door it still passively arms.
Factory keyless does that too, so that was one of the first things I tried.

unplug the brain, let it sit for minute...this should clear the brain and maybe it will straighten out. otherwise take it to who sold it and installed it and have them check it out...possible send it out for service (they should give you another one if they're a good shop).

I installed it.
I just sent in the remote and antenna for replacement (authorized) so I REALLY dont want to send the brain in for exchange.
I had it sit an entire night, saturday, w/o the battery cable connected.
I'll try that again, but if it doesnt work, I pretty much have to send it in, right? **** the dealer is in Oregon.

it sounds that way honestly, when we have a bad brain, or a non functional issue. sorry to say that to you.
