I have a theft recovery 98 EX Vtec and the aftermarket exhaust was stolen from the rear suspension back area.

I have a 97 LX with the non-vtec motor. It looks like it has a muffler shop crushed-bent style exhaust on it that is in nice shape.

Will the crushed bent LX exhaust bolt up to my EX downpipe properly? and will it be large enough or does the EX motor require larger diameter exhaust?

If it will fit I plan on just swapping the LX exhaust over to the EX civic from the downpipe back.

96-00 coupe/sedan all have the same exhaust, with the exception of the location of the cat. search it

 

The LX mid-pipe is longer than the EX mid-pipe. The LX mid-pipe will bolt directly to your stock EX downpipe, but you will end up having no cat.

 

so diameter is the same? I did search, but couldnt find anything about the diameter

on LX and DX the cat is in front of the motor and where is the EX cat?

 

at the end of the exhaust manifold, underneath the car.

lx and dx cats are on the exhaust manifold itself.

I'm not sure about the diameter.

the EX/SI exhaust is the same diameter the SI has a tip on the muffler

the LX/DX are smaller by .25 inch i believe

do you know what the stock diameter is on either?

The previous owner of this 98 EX put some humungo exhaust on it... looks like 2.25 or 2.5 which seems waaay to big to me...

thats what i have on mine now i thought the stock was too small

stock size is like 40-45 mm.

This is going to be my GF's car so she wants it quiet... doesn't care about extra performance much.

 

i have a stock 98 civic ex

stock inlet & outlet of muffler is 1.75"
