Shelly Howard and son killed in testing crash at Tulsa
This has nothing to do with imports or sport compacts, I realize. Last night Top Alcohol Dragster standout Shelly Howard was killed in a testing crash at Tulsa Raceway Park. The news I got was that the car flipped over at 200 mph, landed back on it's wheels, then came back up the track the wrong way and struck the team's support vehicle. Her son Brian was injured in the tow vehicle, and he later died from his injuries. I think everyone can agree that it is tough losing 2 in less than a year, no matter what form of racing you follow.

Very sad news. Shelly was very popular and a good racer, a two-time division champion. She was a registered nurse and was always there for people at the track. For more, see my story here: http://www.nhra.com/apcm/templ...eid=8
Racing is racing here. I heard about this early this morning. Shelly and her son will be missed
I can't imagine how her husband and two daughters are dealing with this loss.
TULSA, Okla. --
It is with great sadness that we report that Top Alcohol Dragster driver Shelly Howard was killed yesterday in an accident at Tulsa Raceway Park. Shelly was participating in an exhibition run while testing at the track when her car went out of control and became airborne at about half track. When the car came back down on the track, it reversed direction and headed back toward the starting line where it crashed into the team's tow vehicle. Shelly's son, Brian, who was in the tow car at the time, was also injured and later died as a result of those injuries. Further details are not known at this time and will be posted as they become available. Please keep the Howard family, especially Shelly's husband, Paul, and two daughters in your thoughts and prayers.
