Lets say the limits $3k for now, I can always go up some if its worth it. This one needs to be in the Socal area but I can deal with Boston/New England too. Clean title is preferred but not necessary. Needing work is fine as long as the piston rods are not acting as footpegs protruding from the engine casing. I thought up a short list, it can be added to but here are some candidates....

-01+ suzuki gsxr 600/(00+)750/1000 (i guess older srads are okay too)
-99+ yamaha r1/r6
-honda f2/3/4/4i, 900/929/954rr
-kawadonkey 636
-the special ones: 400rr, fzr400, vfr400r, gsxr400

i was looking thru cycle trader today for the 909 area....older, "well-off" man was selling his 2001 hayabusa for $3500OBO

wish i had it on me, i woulda picked it up quick..but check out that mag, i saw a few late 90's/early 2K 750's, even a few 1st gen R1's JUST over your range

My buddy is selling a salvaged titled F3. I think mileage is about 17k, purple/yellow, and F2 forks. Bads: needs a mirror/front fender, new chain/sprockets soon, tune up, and has a cracked tail. Runs good. $1700

I can probably meet you an hour or two south of SF so you dont have to drive as far.

 

thanks Pete, i'll probably pass; i'm trying to stay within 50 or so miles of SD. so far, i found a 03 gsxr 600, 99 superhawt and maybe a 00 750...we will see what happens.
