SO I was searching and didn't see a thread with just the tranny codes on here, mainly people asking what different codes were... but I found most of this info off of a thread on hondaswap... so if you were wondering gear ratios and/or what tranny you actually have... here you go!

People with 96-00 civics chime in on your codes. They seem to be missing! I think they are P20's, but I'm not 100% sure... I'm sure they can look under their car really quick...

S40 on my 96 CX hatch w D16Y7 but S20 on my "new" 97 DX hatch w D16y7. The Helms manual says S40 is correct. What is an S20 from?

This thread should be stickied or put in the stickied transmission topic index if it's correct.

S20 is Typically from a used D15 honda motor, in your case it is most likely from a 92-95 civic.

S40 is D16 transmission.



Thread information is obsolete as there is much more thorough gearing information available online.

Thanks chrysler kid. Gotta admit I only searched H-T, not the web but this is the only place I found a cross-reference with trans model numbers.
Is the info above for 5th gen D-series incorrect then? Should say S20 where it says P20?
