My CRX destroyed :( (ugly pics inside) :(
NOV 04 04 I will never forget that fateful day. I was on my way home from work during evening rush hour. I was in the left lane on a 3 lane road up ahead the middle lane and right lanes were all backed up with slow moving cars my lane was free with a couple cars way up ahead. I was doing 60-65km/h As i start passing the cars to my right about 50 feet ahead a white 1992 ford pickup F350 jumps out from the between the cars to my right. I remember hitting the brakes but it was less than a second , i went into him headon into his front driver side wheel area. BANG! it was a hard impact both my mirrors flapped forward and were stuck like that! I had a box with 2 12's that ripped through the cargo cover hit the passenger seat so hard it ripped out of the sliders and made a big spiderweb on the windsheild. My deck disapeard into the dash! Ive been driving for 6 years now avoided many closecalls caused by idiot drivers and I was confident i would never get ito an accident then this unavoidable (maybe if i wasnt so low lol) bullshit happens. You would not believe how much a part of my life this car was. I never took it to a mechanic di EVERYTHING myself except for an alingment. So many hours of work gone because an idiot in a truck.

you can see the imprint of the b18a valve cover on the hood he.

The truck was an ex CN rail truck that has rail wheel under the bumper, I knocked out his tranny! It was sitting on the ground!
I got raped by the towtruck driver him and the cop knew eachother you could tell, the tow cost me $500cdn court date for driving with no insurance is in june $5000 fine. And i got a bill for $200 fire and emergency services.
The car would have been very very fast right now.
I still have the car havent touched it, just recently cn look at it without freaking out. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/489923 more pics here.

First of all, my condolences to your CRX. May she rest in peace!
Now, let the rant begin. I don't think you can blame thi all on the pickup truck driver. Yes, he did pull into the lane you were in. But don't you think driving 60/65km during rush while the two lanes to your right are congested was a smart thing to do?
I was going to end there until I read your most recent reply...Driving without insurance! That's a smart thing to do! What if the truck you hit wasn't a truck but a Ford Festiva or Geo Metro with a baby in the back? The tranny wouldn't have been the only thing you "killed". You're lucky your only paying a fine. I'm not saying I'm a Saint. I've done my fair share of speeding and stupid things. But come on now. A little common sense won't hurt!

Ouch... I dread that... Theres TONS of moronic driver's around here... Ive had numerous close calls myself... As well as been hit by a drunk driver (not in my car, but my g/fs 85 Accord Hatchy was totaled), and then the same week was rear ended in my old car 84 BMW 318i, it was low speed so no damage but still sucks... ppl just dont pay attention... And 90% of the time, its damn cell phone owners!!!
When I had my 96 Accord, my can was backed onto by a F350. He was in my neighborhood lost, we were behind him when we came to a stop sign. Instead of looking he just stoped and threw it into reverse and before I could even move he was on top of my hood. I made out like a bandit tho got new cf hood jdm style headlights bomex front bumper new paint.
Hey progress this is Canada we live in; 60-65 kelometers per hr. is only 37 miles per hr- to about maybe 42 mph. The average speed on this HWY. is 130kph which is 80mph so the guy wasn't that bad. I know I clip at around 140kph most of the time..Toronto Ontario Canada..
So it's his fault and his insurance is covering it right? If so, make sure you show them receipts for all of the work you have done to your car. That way you can get back into another CRX with a motor swap again. Also, I don't know how the insurance companies work over there, but your stereo equipment, if damaged, should also be covered. Make sure you tell them that your box was secured down and show them some proof.
I live where there is alot of 18 wheeler, and redneck trucks flying up, and down the road. I know it is an accident waiting to happen, I would prefer it is my Si, and not my rex if it happens to me. I feel for you, I know how much work, and cash that goes into this stuff. Soffy for your loss...

Ya I know about 65km being about 40 or so mph. I spent most 27 of my 32 years on this earth in Ottawa. Speed aside, driving without insurance is just not a smart thing to do. Just because the pickup truck driver pulled out into the left most lane in front of baruba, it still doesn't make his driving without insurance right.
"Unfortunately people who look at the short term savings don't realize they face a lifetime of payments if they are involved in a serious accident," said Mr. Davies. "They are putting themselves and others at risk."
If people in possession of invalid insurance policies, or no insurance, are involved in an automobile accident they will only be allowed minimal medical and rehabilitation benefits. They will not be allowed to claim wage loss benefits and have lost their right to sue. They may also be personally liable for civil actions for the injuries of the other parties in the accident or other damages that could take a lifetime to repay." Sorry for your loss, everyone is glad you're ok.
One thing I wanted to point out is this:

In an impact, everything in your car is a missile. Including yourself. Every heavy object, the battery in the trunk you were going to secure "later", your box of subs, EVERYTHING has a lot of energy, and can be dangerous. Since you can still type I'll assume you were wearing a seatbelt. Everything substantial in a car should be secured as well. A 70 lb sub box weighs upwards of 1000 lbs to everything in it's path when it starts moving.
