Default Oil Cooling

I know that using a remote oil filter in a race car set up = disaster if im not mistaken. However, I wuold like to know what is a good way to cool the oil through an oil cooler and safely. Note that the car is a 89 civic dx only used as a solo 1 and track day car (not road legal) also that it came with a oil cooler with remote oil filter.

any suggestions ?

I'm not really sure what you mean by "safely" but I've been using a Greddy oil cooler kit on a DC2R (ITR) for over a year now with around 1000 track miles

- no issues or leaking

However to keep the oil temp down you'll also need

- low temp thermostat
- low temp fan switch
and look into a bigger radiator (depends how hard u push it)

This is aiming for a track oil temp of 85 degrees C.

What makes you say that just out of curiosity?

Dang, don't use that as a reason to question the safety of a remote oil cooler!! They admit to plumbing the filter backward!!!!

I don't see any reason to not run a remote cooler (unlike the oil inter-cooler on a GSR) but would recommend adding a thermostat to the system.

Use 1/2" plumbing.

Mount the filter as low as possible so that it doesn't bleed down (when the engine is turned off) which could lead to low pressure upon start-up.

It's all in the details!
