I just got back from my friends house where he was working on my car. Well on the way home on the freeway, I would "get on it" so to say, and everytime I hit VTEC my CEL would come on.

But what's really weird is that whenever it shifted out of the powerband the CEL would go away. I got scared about the second time and babied the car home. I got home to pull the code, but when I plugged the code reader in, nothing ever came up. What the hell is going on?

Did you try the CEL blinker on dash? Use the paper clip technique and the plug on the pass side under dash.

 

just throwing an idea out, but when you worked on your car... did you do wiring? if so, could you have possibly wired a vtec light? lol... just came to mind... remembered the old threads...

 

maybe the ecu or the vtec selenoid is starting to go bad

Yeah did that before I went to autozone to borrow the code reader.

When I was there we didn't do any wiring. I did go get food for a while though.

it is a SOLID light or does it flicker and flash?

so sohc was at luserkids house getting his car worked on and a vtec light was hhoked up by luser while sohc was gone.

???^if its not a april fools joke check the oil because same thing happened to me when
v-tec kicked in the CEL comes on i checked my oil and it was less then a quart low i put oil in it then no CEL when v-tec kicked in

I wanted to do that but i didnt have enough time since he only went down the street so i unhooked his VTEC light and hooked it to a "new" light Oh its classic, lol.

How do you go about wiring up a light for vtec anyway? I have gotta do this to a friend lol.

 

I am sitting at work and just could not stop laughing when I read what ACTUALLY happened. I was also cracking up with that horn-to-the-brakes thing. I wanna see that, too.
