New engine?or sell the car? Opinons...
Hey Dudes-
I have a 94LS which I've owned for a while. I am nearing 200,000 miles and am definitely feelin it. I have some basic bolt on’s, never race, and was introduced to HT through another member who actually is in Iraq right now.
My question is this, I am looking to either rebuild my motor or get a new one. I have read a ton on here, but am not sure which one would be a more economical. I would like to get some more power then just a stock LS (which is nothing) but I’m not looking to invest in a turbo (with school and all just doesn’t fit in the budget). I read getting a b16 tranny would be something to do…but wasn’t sure. Let’s say the fundage is around 2500-3000.00 range.
Other than that I could always just sell the ride and look for another one with fewer miles, although I doubt I could sell mine for more than 4500.00-5,000 maybe. Thanks for any info... just looking for some ideas to keep the car running while I’m still driving to school and get a lil bit more power.
If there are any suggestions to shops around so cal I could contact that would do this work as well, that would be cool. I know a lot more about classics this is my first run with imports.

why dont you get a gsr engine? that should fit in your budget... If not.. buy a rebuilt ls longblock because im pretty sure you can find one pre-rebuilt than you could rebuild yours..
I may be wrong though...

stick with a daily driver if your in school. Less headaches. I dont know where in socal you are, but I just had a LS motor replaced. Took it to Reseda Engines, 1,500 for a complete longblock installed. New motor mounts, water pump, timing belt, gaskets. Its a hole in the wall, but my family friend mechanic has done a lot of business with this place. He recommeneded it.
with 3 grand you could most definitly get an LS long block and turbo and tune it man. just gotta know where to look, forced induction classifieds is the ****. piece the kit together with used parts. my turbo set up budget was like 1200 and it was more then feasable.
umm. i believe gsr blocks go for 3g+ but if u just want another LS block just get one with 100,000 miles or so for about 750-1000 cuse u aint gonna get much for a 94 integra with 200000 miles. ppl gonna hasle u about the miles and they gonna annoy u to get it low as 2500-3500. ur not gonna be able to buy another low mileage integ for 4500. if ur car is still running fairly decent, just rebuild or swap out.
Yeah I figured I would be lowballed but thats pretty standard. I am probably looking at just another LS block, but wasnt sure what you can do that would make it a bit more powerful than just stock. Besides the basic IHE stuff. Like the other guy was saying, I could piece together a turbo kit...but I am gunna hafta get a list together of everything I need and what not what. I'm kinda looking around now, because I would like to get something done, its always been reliable and I'm not really looking into getting into a new car payment.
i would say stick with the block you have, just do a tune up and replace the timing belt/water pump. It should last you another 100k. If you want more out of it i would suggest the B16 tranny and a set of cams

yeah if its been treated right, the b series motors, or most honda motors for that matter dont really care about the miles... do a timing belt and headgasket and im sure itll be fine.

Thanks for the info. I am looking into a new motor and maybe a b16 tranny (gotta research the pros of this though). Schools out in another month so I might get the car repainted too... we shall see. I didnt think I'd grow attached to the teg after driving 1950's cars for so long.
