Default tranny slip

i have a 98b auto ls and my trans is starting to get some slip to it. for the majority of the time the car drives fine but when the engine and trans are cold it shifts hard and if the trans downshifts from 3rd to 2nd it slips most of the time. the wierd thing is that if i mash on the gas the car drives fine with no slip even if the engine is cold, but if i drive at a nomal pace it seems to hit a sweet spot and slips. im not sure if this is something that can be fixed cheap or if this is going to require a lot of money. if this is gonna cost much i would just drop in a five speed instead of wasting money on a auto with 100k on it.

I have a similar problem. I have a 1990 auto GS and when the tranny shifts from 2nd to 3rd the RPMs jump depending on the throttle position. I will probably go to the shop soon to see how much this will cost to fix. I have been researching the auto to manaul costs. When I get a number I will let you know.

i think im pretty sure what is involved for most of the parts that are needed for the conversion. the only things that im concerned about are the wiring harness and ecu.

1 I want to put a gsr 5 speed in since it can hold more power than an ls 5 speed (correct me if im wrong) and in a year or so i will drop a b18c in my car when i got more money. For now i see no reason to rip out my ls motor. im not sure if i need a ls or gsr 5 speed ecu to make things work, or if i have to re-map an ecu since it will have a ls engine and a gsr ecu Im not to sure how compatible electronic parts are for these two models since they would have different fuel ratios, etc..... I would like to get a 5 speed trans and ecu to match up with the ls motor i have now and also match up with the gsr motor ill drop in a year or so, the reason being that i wouldnt have to rebuy parts.

2. The next issue is the wiring involved. The only thing i know about wiring is how to plug and unplug wires. i have no idea if i have to rip out the whole wiring harness or not and if i do what is involved.

If anyone ahs any helpful info let me know. I plan on doing this swap this summer and i need to make up my mind soon since i will need a while to gather parts.
