intake manifold squirter??
hey whats up guys, i remember seeing an earlier post where someone rigged up their windshield washer squirter/nozzle so that it would spray cool water on the intake manifold, does anyone know how to do this to an integra, if i remember correctly this mod was done to a civic, thanks guys, and ps. will this really help??
unless its boosted, you will get almost no performance gain. your best bet is to put a heat spacer between the intake and the head. and to acid clean the water passage in the intake manifold and paint the inside with epoxy painy to reduce heat soak. you can do the inside of the runners too and get even colder air into the combustion chamber. its a pretty common mod in certain highly restrictive racing classes.
durring tuning, i gained 3 HP from squirting my intake manifold. did it like 4 times just to make sure it was working. and 150 whp to 153 whp is a huge difference in my book.
Theoretically it would be remarkably simple to undergo this. Get on a couple of Subaru websites and take a look at how they rig them up on the base model WRX's and you get a good idea of how it's done.
here's an idea. like he said water on ur intake manifold isnt really going to do a whole lot. so have you ever took a duster can for keyboards and turned it upside to spray? what happens? BAM instant freeze! you can run a vaccum hose thruough your firewall to the head of that can inside ur car. then when your in 3rd gear(cause itd be hard to use in 1st or second cause it so fast) just let it have it! freeze the whole intake tube or intake manifold to ICE. its the same thing with Co2 off paintball guns. buy a 9 oz and make a valve u can open and close and before u race open it some at the light so it starts to freeze the **** out of stuff, then after first flick the switch all the way and it will bring the air temp WAY down.
every 11 degrees is a 1% hp gainand member the air is gonna go from about 130 degrees(under the hood) to about 70 degress maybe less. lets say u lose 66 degrees and you have stock 180 hp. well 6% of 180 is 10.8 hp. not to mention to refill the tank its like 3 bucks. u cant spray it in the intake tho because its carbon dioxide so it wont burn it will just chocke ur motor and probably die. u can get pure oxegen and do it, it'll act kinda like NOS but wont hurt ur engine but still not as power ful. i bet u can get 20hp tho

oh yea and id be sceptical about doing this to the intake manifold cause going from about 130 degrees to almost 0 degrees might crack it i dont know. i say try it at the intake manifold. if you can do it to the manifold itd be best cause then air will stay cool when it gets the the motor.

no! you cannot use pure oxygen! pure oxygen is corrosive especially when heated and compressed. if you are going to use one of those c02 canisters its not all that hard. if you have one of those metal tube CAI's you can just put another tube around a large section of it slmost touching it. seal one end of it off and run a nipple to the can and freeze that section of the intake tube when needed. i have seen it done before. i was like WTF? these guys in texas ran in a engine claimer class where the loser of a race could buy your engine longblock after the race for 500 bucks. pretty cool.
