Harley-Davidson awarded research grant for $75million
DOE Awards Research Grants to Harley Davidson in Support of President
Bush's Foreign Fuel Independence Initiative.
WASHINGTON, DC - Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham today announced that
the department has selected over $75 million in research projects to
support the President's Foreign Fuel Independence Initiative.
In last year's State of the Union address, President Bush communicated his
vision that, "the United States will one day not need to import one drop of
foreign oil". The research projects announced today address major technical
and economic hurdles in fuel independence and production technologies that
must be overcome to make the President's vision a reality.
The Harley Davidson Company of Milwaukee has been notified that it is the
recipient of a US Department of Energy ( DOE ) grant. The DOE has issued
the grant to HD in an effort to give US consumers some relief from the
highest oil prices ever.
DOE has concluded that since HD has such experience in converting gas to
noise, having them reverse engineer their motorcycles so that they would
convert noise back to gas. This work will put the US is a very favorable
position. Possibly allowing the US to export excess gas back to the middle
east.
Harley Davidson had no comment on the grant at press time.
