What bad things did you hear about the JDM front end besides possible theft?

Who cares about our opinions, if you like it go ahead and get it.

I personally think that it looks very nice, but the USDM front looks really nice too. If you've got the money and want to spend it that way, then go for it. Personally I would still like to do way more things to my engine and suspension and tires before I'd do it. Once my car is running exactly how I want it, then I actually do plan on getting the JDM comversion, but I wanna get the CF front end by Carbon Creations. But that's at least 2 yrs in the future.
I just think that $2000 or $1500 or whatever can do a lot for the engine, while the JDM front is purely looks. It depends on your own preference, show or go.

what did you hear bad about the jdm front? i just bought the jdm front end and its installed. so far, everything is A-OK. the only thing i was worried about when i got the front end is someone trying to steal it.

actually somebody ran into me while she was backing out of a parking spot and my car was parked on the side of the street..left a pretty fat dent in my fender, insurance quoted me for $1300 to replace the fender, bumper, align the hood, and paint the whole front end..

full coverage wont take care of the whole thing unless you seriously messed up the front end, i went to a AAA recommended shop and they quoted me the 1300, i still needed the extra 1000 if i was to go with a JDM front end...and there's plenty of reasons why you're paying 3 grand for a year for insurance

yeah its expensive, but it transforms the car from a pretty cool car to one of the hottest imports ever IMO. to be honest, the usdm front end doesnt flow at all. i dont undertsand why they would ever scrap the jdm front end for usdm production.

I have the jdm frontend, for like 3 years now, and I love every minute with it.

Only thing though as far as safety, the JDM bumper and Reinforcement isnt up to DOT standards, so if you get into an accident after you install the frontend, expect more significant damage. The Radiator support if not welded on well will be much weaker than factory (if you replace the whole thing), so dont plan on jacking under the front radiator support much.

another thing is, you may experience problems passing your annual safety inspections in your state depending on how strict your inspector is.

On the upside, you do shed a some pounds on the frontend, the jdm frontend is lighter than the USDM one.

Finally just be sure to get a professional installer experienced in frontend collisions to install your frontend. Aligning the Radiator support and body panels is important to getting that factory look.

ummm...to my undestanding they scrapped the bug eye look for the one piece headlights...japanese people thought the bugeyes were too "aggressive" or something, we got the short end of the stick...

then again, that's my understanding..

US didnt follow the JDM switch over in 95 cause I bet they were too lazy or didnt want to spend money on retesting (DOT and crash tests, etc...) and making the JDM front compliant when sales for the Integra in the US were already good at the time.

So instead in 98 when they were supposed to introduce a newer model they just updated the Bug-eyed look for the US and Euro integras.

when I had the jdm front end done on my car.....the body shop had a fit over the bumper support.....they didn't want to be liable for ANYTHING in case I got into an accident....so they did this :

the welding could have been better....but it holds up pretty nicely....all they did was re-weld the existing brackets to the USDM bumper support so that the bumper extension that holds the grill piece would fit....along with the bumper.....

Recently got in to a fender bender and considered the JDM front end. Decided to go with 98+ conversion because of long term costs. If I had the JDM front I would be more worried about screwing up my $2-3000 front end then actually getting hurt. That's what I decided. Now it's your turn.

i think the JDM front is SO much cleaner than the bug eyes.. i told myself if i ever got an integra i would do that conversion eventually.
