Valve seal, Oil
hey guys i was reading along in my helms manual and i saw that the intake and the exhaust takes different color valve springs. My question is, if i had the wrong seal on the wrong valve, will it cause me to burn oil? I only burn oil when I hit up the high RPM's i go through about 2 quarts an oil change (3000 miles) Thanks to anyone that gives me input!
Its unlikely swapping the seals would would cause that kind of oil consumption. The exhaust seals have a little less tension and are more heat resistant than the intake seals. If the guides are really worn the seals won't do much good, but that's not usually a problem with hondas. My guess would be rings.

can it still be the rings if i am running about 270 psi on all four cylinders? I just recently changed my PCV valve, would a catch can help my oil consumption somewat?
Compression and oil control are two separate things.Surplus oil on the walls and in the rings will increase the results in a compression test. The top ring is for compression only. The second ring aids in compression but its main function is to scape oil off the walls. The third ring is only for oil control. If its not moving freely in the piston you will have more oil getting into the combustion process but will not show up in a leakdown or compression test.

so what would it mean if something showed up in a leakdown test? i'm going through the same stuff, but its a huge F-ing mystery (sorry, its really beginning to frustrate me after 70K+ miles) to every professional and forum viewer i've spoken to about my oil consumption and various test results.
