Another lame transmission fluid question.
I don't want to start an arguement over which is better or why. I really just want to know what Acura recommends for a type-r tranny. I have a gs-r and in my owners manual it says MTF or 5w30 motor oil. I won't be running MTF. Which is all I see by searching. Use MTF or use synchromesh ETC ETC.
I just want to know if honda says to use a friction modifier or not. Thanks for your help

I know for a gs-r they recommend mtf or regular motor oil(in the owners manual). I didn't know if it was different for a type-r tranny.
Is the differential a clutch type posi unit that requires a friction modifier? Thats what I really need to know. TIA

Directly from the manual:

An SG grade is preferred, but an SH or SJ grade may be used if SG is not available. However, motor oil does not contain the proper additives and continued use can cause stiffer shifting. Replace as soon as convenient. </TD></TR></TABLE>
