trade my turbo d16 motor for a stock 1998 ls?
Hey guys,
I need some suggestions, I have a 95 civic w/ a greddy turbo kit and intercooler. My motors got about 180,000 miles on it, but I had the bottom end rebiult with forged pistons, eagle rods, and posted the block. I really like my d16, but i am having so much problems with it. Like the transmission went out, now theres some kind of rattling coming from the crank pulley.
Anyways, I went to the same shop that did the work on my bottom end to get rattling checked. And the mechanic showed me an ls motor(100,000) that used to be in his 4 door civic (which he wrecked and the car rolled over 3 times). He wanted to trade my d16 including the turbo and everything that came with it with his ls. He was going to do the install for $500. On one hand I think I should trade it b/c the turbo d16 is giving me so much problems,on the other hand I don't know what he did to the ls motor and if theres something wrong with it.
I just want to know what you guys think, is this a good deal?
Thanks for any advice.

A stock LS for a built D16 Turbo. I dont think so. Maybe for a GSR, but not for a LS.

yeah, I thought so. What was i thinking, I am going to keep my turbo d!!. It just needs to be tuned then i can crank up the boost. right now i am running on the fmu that came with the greddy kit. I installed dsm injectors w/ a resistor box, and it would'nt run, i had to keep my foot on the pedal. So i took them out and am now waiting on a better fuel management.
Thanks for the comments fellas.
also is there an aftermarket crankshaft for the d16's?
