Who gets shocked when getting our their car?
Who the hell gets shocked when they get out their car and right when they touch their door to close it, ZAP! static electricity? What the hell causes this static? I swear, it's strong sometimes too!
it happens from the build up of static electricity from your butt dragging across the seat and if the first thing you touch is metal itll shock you. try touching the door panel first before gettign out.

I always get shocked, I just close the door by my window and it won't shock me.
EDIT: I don't have an integra, but I still get shocked.

Me too. If I am wearing skateboarding shoes, oh man im in for a treat. Like my Geoff Rowleys, they have a high grip compound that build up a huge amount of friction, thus static electricity. When i wear dunks, or my shell-toes i dont get shocked. I thought this only happened to me, hahah.

I've never been shocked exiting my teg, and I wear Vans, or are those not considered skater shoes any more? Damn, now I feel old. Wonder if my leather helps with the static...

that's why you take your key and touch it to a metal part of the car when you get out before you close the door. zaps the key and not you.
just make sure that you're fingers are touching the metal part of the key too, not just the plastic, or it won't work.

No, Geoff Rowleys are vans shoes, just they are more 'extreme' grip shoes i guess i dont know, they are real sticky. Also you have leather seats so i think that helps w/ you not getting shocked.
Here is what you do when getting out of the car:
Turn off the car
Open the door
Hold onto some metal part of the car on your way out of the car
When you get out to actually close the door, you shouldn't be shocked.

i hate that! before i got rid of my leather, it never happend except when i wore my north face fleece OUCH!!! but now i have cloth sparcos and it happens ALL the Fing time
I get shocked getting out of any car that doesn't have leather.
My solution for my hatch was replace the seats with leather.
Still need to change the seats in the teg to leather.
What seems to work for me is have one hand on the frame as i get out, then reach for the door and shut it. Don't get shocked that way. Atleast not as bad as just reaching for the door after getting out.

I notice it more now that i have my jeep (clothe seats) than i did when i had my integra b4 i crashed it (gsr leathers) so its definatly a clothe thing</TD></TR></TABLE>
That's one of those urban legends/myths..
I think I saw an episode of Myth Busters on TV and they busted that myth.
This thread is funny...I was just getting annoyed earlier how after I got out of my car, my basketball shorts were hugging my legs from the accumulated static. And I shocked my friend

i have leather and i still get shocked like a ****... it's been happening on every car i go into.. wtf.. how can i stop this?
oh and try this.. if you're wearing fleece or something that has crazy static, at night time, turn off the lights, take off the sweater.. it's like a fricken fireworks show. you actually see the static electricity.
