Hey guys, whats going on? After years of being in the honda scene and wanting an EF hatchback I finally came across one. It's a Teal 1991 DX

The reason I bought this car is because my old car (1994 Civic Sedan with b16) was totalled. Though I still drive the sedan I was hoping to start working on my hatch right away.
Naturally, I've been doing alot of reading and I thought I had decided on a Z6 mini-me but that b16 in the civics engine bay is calling my name. I know I'll need to convert to mpfi and I'd like to convert to OBDI.
From my understanding the parts I'll be able to salvage from my car are the P28 ECU and motor. I might a) buy Hasports hydro kit or b) score a cable tranny.
Do you guys know if any other parts are salvagable?
Can I use the same axles that I had in my EG?
What distributor do I use?
Can I use my 4 wire 02 sensor on the hatch?
One more question, what's the ideal tranny to use on this setup? I had a b16 with a JDM LSD 4.7 fd tranny and I would not do that again. I hated highway driving, but conversely, my b16 with GSR trans now is somewhat of a slouch? Any middle ground here?
Please don't tell me to search. I have been searching and the amount of information is overwhelming, so much that it confuses me
I've been an EG guy the whole time and I can't WAIT to get started on my EF
Thanks in advanced fellas
And here's for those that only look at the threads with pictures

Welcome to the EF forums. I assume your p28 is chipped to run a b16a motor, if so, keep that. I would save yourself the hassle and buy a cable b-series transmission. Since you are on the highway a lot you can swap in an LS 5th gear that way the revs are lower on the highway.
1. Not sure about other parts, but im sure the shift linkage is. (Someone please extend on this)
2. I'm not sure about the axles, but if you did not replace the knuckle or spindle on your old sedan, and the axle fit into the brake hub, then it should work on that DX.
3. Distributor, depends on if you are going obd-1 or obd-0. I have no experience with b-series motors, but I would GUESS any del sol that came with a b16a distributor would be fine for obd-1, not sure for obd-0.
4. You CAN use your 4 wire O2 sensor if you go obd-1. If you stay obd-0, need to use your 1 wire 02 sensor unless you can modify the 4 wire 02 sensor to fit obd-0(not sure if that is possible or not).
Nice pics of the car, looks clean.
You will love the loss of weight from the 5th gen sedan to the 4th gen hatchy.

The loss is only like 200 pounds. It helps but I was always drawn to the EF's for their classic lines, late 80's styling interior and fun factor as a car along side being a well rounded commuter car.
That and one of my best friends had two of these

Why would you want to go OBD-1? Is it just because you already have the ECU?
Doing the MPFI swap and converting to OBD-1 is a decent amount of wiring...I wouldn't be too excited about tackling it.
You're gonna need engine mounts and to make a dent in the frame for the alternator. I'm not too sure about the shift linkage or axles, but axles out of a 90-93 integra should work, and I would spend the money on a hasport shift linkage setup if you can't use the one off your old civic.
Good luck and have fun.

Not really. It helps but its not my main reason. My motor is already OBDI, my ECU is OBDI, MPFI is only a couple of wires. I have two friends that have done it so it should be okay.

b16a cable YS1 with LSD and a swapped LS final drive. Every EF owners wet dream. prolly other gens too.
just get a obd0-obd1 conversion harness from one of the guys on here, its mostly plug and play minus the few wires for MPFI.
another EF'er whos mature, can this be?

Ha! Quite possibly yes. I've owned 4 hondas before this and 75% of them have been EG's. You should see the look on my parent's and friend's faces when I tell them I WANTED a 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback as opposed to the other cars I've had
