On-Star for the Type R?
Recently someone I know had their car stolen. The car had On-Star. When the car was stolen, the owner contacted On-Star. On-Star then made a call to the car, let the person driving know they were being tracked via intercom, and the car was found a short time later with the keys still in it and running, and no damage and nothing taken. I dont know if other security devices allow them to track and even call the car. I think On-Star can even do things like lock/unlock the doors via satellite.
LOL..GM's deal with Honda: You give us your V6 engines you put in a billion accords so we can make a ricer "redline" saturn suv, and we'll give you onstar.
I have a GM equipped with On Star. As a matter of fact it was something that I took into consideration before I bought it for my Wife.
It is located through GPS. But it uses predominantly Verizion Digital/Analog connections for it's communication features.
Basic service which is initially available for 12 months free includes:
Automatic Notification of Airbag Deployment (IE they call 911 for you and maintain contact with you from the point of deployment till the rescue squad arrives).
Emergency Services
Roadside Assistance
Stolen Vehicle Tracking
Remote Door Unlock
GM Goodwrench Remote Diagnostics
Access to Hands Free Voice activated and recognized calling, (Car Phone)
For currently $16.95 a month.
There are more services such as weather and or traffic updating and or concierge for finding lodging or restaurants but these extras cost more than the basic safe and sound plan.

05 RLs have it

on-star can lock and unlock the vehicle through their satelite network. i would suggest going to a honda or gm dealer to see if you can get it installed.
Locked the keys in my sisters car for junior prom last year (my car was broken), called onstar and still picked up my date on time.

P.S. for those who have an OnStar that aren't using it; you can use it to connect to a PDA and use the GPS:

Care to explain Exactly how that worked?
I understand some midwestern states are in the process of using GPS for determining insurance premiums and state fuel consumption taxing.
But I've never heard of On Star used by the law to prosecute anyone for speed limit violations.
Are you sure the person that told you this is trustworthy?

as far as tickets go, that doesnt surprise me. They probably have a monitor and alarms set up to go off when someone is tracked going a certain speed. Ive also heard of people getting tickets from using EZ Pass.
I doubt it because that would be so unconstitutional. Not only that, but On-Star would lose much business and recieve many lawsuits from people who have been ticketed.
Ez-pass and On-star tickets cannot be true. This has to be against all privacy laws.
The only tickets you can get through EZ pass is speeding through the actual tolls and not if you average speed between two points of toll were above the speed limit.
I just don't believe the On-star ticket.

I'm not gonna post that I blatantly speed but on longer road trips and even when towing the car to the track, it's easy to run with a bunch of tractor trailers in a convoy at about 85 mph. So I seriously doubt this claim.

This is what I'd think.
So what if now I'm in my On Star Equipped Z06 on the track at 155 odd mph? Am I gonna get ticketed? I'd certainly hope not.

I know some tracking devices have parental "watch" but not sure if onstar is one
A parent is notified when their kid goes over a certain speed limit
