Arent the spoon type r pistons and rods just balanced by spoon.
Other than the 2 gram difference between the parts,
i would just save your money and get oem rods and pistons.

actually, you'd be surprised how much it helps to have lightened internals.....
2 grams might not sound like much, but imagine those 2 grams x 4 moving up and down at 8000+rpm.

the weight savings goes up exponentially as the revs climb.

The biggest issue I have with Spoon balanced internals, is that many people will balance your stock stuff for much less than it would cost to buy the Spoon ****. If you're still hell-bent on P73 pistons, then I don't suppose it's a bad price considering the fact that the Spoon pistons include the rings.

Im all for lighter internals.
I guess Kendall put into words what i was trying to describe instead.
I just dont see the point in paying for the "Spoon" markup , when a competent machine shop would be able to balance/blueprint the pistons and rods.

This is a rather bland statement. Shotpeening improves the grain structure in a metal, thus making it stronger. An all motor setup (what factory rods and Spoon balanced rods are intended for) usually will not stress the motor enough during proper driving conditions to ever flat out break a rod. Balancing the rotating assembly is critically important though. Unbalanced internals can become unstable at high rpms and cause any number of engine maladies.
