ignition degree.
i've been pondering this for awhile, how do you get the degree of the timing. for example someone says my timing is about 16 degrees, how do you get that????
You use a timing gun to set the timing. If it's a standard gun, you'll only be able to exactly set the timing to 14, 16 or 18 degress BTDC (since these are the three lines on the crank pulley). If you have an adjustable advance timing gun, you can accurately adjust it to any setting you want.

k...thanks so the 3 marks on the pulley signify the degree, so the white ones are 14 and 18 and the red ones 16 right????
lol, that question has finnaly been put to rest

Also, theyre adjusted by the distributor.
OR if you want to degree a cam from TDC. You can use this.

i know how the timing gun looks, i was just wondering how ppl got the degrees, not how to time the car, thx though
