Default Is this a good deal?

Hi, Im not new to Honda-tech, but i lost my password and cant get it back. I was formaly Integralova. I have a 99 integra ls.Now for the reason of this thread.
I have been recently looking to get another integra that i dont owe any on.Today i came across a black 92 DA. I has 180k miles but it runs like a champ. The clutch and tranny feel great as well. The dealership is only asking 2,000 cash. Does this seem like a good deal? I dont know as much about DA integras but im starting to come around to them.So tell me DA owners, what do you think.

It depends, is it an RS, LS, GS? About a year ago, I bought a 92 LS for $3,000. Paint was in great shape, motor was in good shape too and had 134k miles. That is in CA too, where we tend to pay more for Hondas.

I would think, if it's in very good shape, paint is good, engine is solid, that you could still get them to go down a little bit. Maybe $1700-1800 or so. As is, he is probably asking a little bit over wholesale blue book.

With 180k miles, you would need to change the timing belt and water pump immediately (which costs about $100-150 in parts for a new belt, pump, tensioner, alt belt, ps belt, a/c belt) just to be safe. You are bound to find other little things wrong - old spark plugs, bad bushings, ignition coil, main fuel relay, etc. There are tons of things you need to watch out for on a 13 year old car with 180k miles. Unless they can furnish maintenance records, I would probably end up spending close to $500 just getting it up to date - plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor, brake fluid, coolant, oil, tranny fluid, timing belt change, etc.

If you're prepared for that kind of effort, go ahead and try to negotiate. I think $2000 is too high, but if it's the best specimen of a 92 DA you have ever seen, it might be worth it.

Thanks for all the input guys. I think i am prepared to deal with whatever comes with this car. From what i was told from the dealer the car has had a recent tune up when they got the car.New clutch, timing belt, distributor, tires, and the usual fluids. The car pulled pretty much on par with my 99 ls. The car does have some kind of generic exhaust that sounds like *** though. Ill probaly get a stock muffler to replace it unless my greddy evo off of my 99 will work.Should it bolt up with no problem?Oh and to answer an earlier question, its a GS.

That sounds pretty good if all that was replaced. Be aware of any rattles and squeaks to make sure they don't get worse - transmission bearings, bushings, wheel bearings, etc. Otherwise, try to deal a bit and see what you can get.

As for the Greddy Evo, the exhaust pattern is totally different, you would have to do some creative things with piping and hangers to make it work. I would suggest finding a used RSR Exmag (somebody on g2ic.com is selling one for $400) or maybe an old school HKS Sport or just a custom one.

I'm sorry it doens't meet to your standards let me jump on your bandwagon. What color, what "jdm" parts, how about the interior....

Its got a rebuilt block all internals are brand new except for the crank which was balanced and polished up. Head was hot tanked, inspected for anything bad and valves re adjusted. New clutch, full tune up. Bought the car from my wife's cousin who rebuilds engines for a living and did us a favor by doing all that work for such a low price.

anyhow - goodluck to blazinteg on your purchase
