im pretty sure it will. i might be wrong, but the us gsr has an egr valve on top of the intake manifold, where as the jdm gsr doesnt. at least my 94 jdm gsr didnt have one. im sure it will pass no problem. just make sure you use your 2000 usdm ecu and have all your smog equipment hooked up.

A lot of people told me it won't pass the block inspection including inline four in orange county.

To do a proper, legal, swap, the replacement engine must come from the same year, or newer, car. But then again, this is a gsr engine in a gsr, so it might not be considered a swap. Your best bet would be to call a ref and ask.

If you intend to simply not mention thats its a different engine, just make sure you have all of the expected equipment for a cali car, (egr, cat, etc...), and they probably won't notice.

take it to your local smog shop and i doubt he will notice the difference, b18c1 vs. b18c.

i dont know how it is in cali.. but obd2 cars get scanned and obd1 get the sniffer test. that was my problem.. i have a 98 integra (obd2) with a obd1 jdm b18c in my car wired to a jdm obd2 ecu. so even though the ecu was obd2 it still couldn't be read because it was jdm and came up "link error."

since that didn't work.. they did a tail pipe test which i failed by a very small %. but hey, i was lucky and they passed me anyway because i was cool with em and they said they liked my car.
