What performance add ons can you do w/o voiding warrenty?
I have what I think is a car with great potential ('05 EP3). My issue is that I don't want to void the Honda warrenty. What can be done and added to help make the most of the EP with out voiding the warrenty?
Depends on your dealership...i've seen bolt ons void a warranty, but ive also seen turbo'ed cars get warranty work. Pretty much the rule to think by when talking warranty is that the dealership (legally) must prove that the damage to the engine was caused directly from the modification in order to deny you warranty work...where they get you is saying no, and knowing that if you get a lawyer, by the time you've fought them in court, you could have probobly fixed the car yourself...so people just give up.
Thats just my thought on it though...

Most likely you car will outlast (before anything goes wrong) the factory warranty which is 3 years 36000 miles I belive? correct me if I'm wrong. For me, I say **** the warranty, I don't push my car that hard so I wouldnt worry too much. Dealing with warranty is such a headche, but if you befriend with some Honda dealer service manager guy, you'll get your way through.
All I'm trying to say is, if you really want to do stuff to car, forget the warantty and if you bought extended warantty, cancel it and get the $$$$ back, you'll have more than enough $ for nice CAI,Cat-back Exhaust, and headers.
But if you are really concerned about the warantty tho, watever Hypno said.

warantees are not voided unless an aftermarket part is the cause of the claimed problem.
having an intake doesn't void your suspension warantee. your warantee is on every single part of the car. it's not one big entity that just gets voided.
most dealers don't question when it's just intake and exhaust. unless you're complaining about that system. of course if you install an aftermarket intake and you suck up some stones into the cylinder and blow up the engine, you're not going to be covered under warranty.
bottom line. IF an aftermarket part is the cause of the problem, there is no warranty on the claim.

even with modificationsto your honda its going to way outlast that warrenty unless you got an extended one but even then i doubt it... and even at that how long do you plan on keeping the car...
in the united states, according to the magnusson moss warranty act, no new car warranty can be voided simply because aftermarket parts are present. furthermore no warranty claim may be denied simply because aftermarket parts are present. the agency must show cause that the claim for warranty is a direct result of the aftermarket part, or contributed to the cause. furthermore the agency must provide in writing, the reason for the denial or your warranty claim. any deviation from this is a violation of applicable federal, state, and local laws. contact the federal trade commission, or an attorney. many attorneys will accept such case with no retainer fee, and will collect its own fees when pursuing your case, which is governed by law.
