removing inner joint
i ripped my 7 mile old DSS level 1 boot (don't ask how)
i purchased a 94 prelude CV boot
I pulled the DSS axle off the car
i dont know how to get the boot on the axle.
anyone know how to take off the inner joint so i can put the boot on? i want to avoid having to take off the outer joint.
thanks

put axle in vice with the inner facing up.
take side cutters and clip the straps and remove the boot.
slide off the inner joint. pay attention to how the bearings are on the tri pod.
take off the snap ring at the top of the tri pod.
remove tri pod.
slip on new inner strap.
install new boot.
install tri pod followed by the snap ring.
put the bearings on the tri pod.
put the inner joint on paying attention to the bearings.
pack with grease.
slip boot over outter joint.
put strap on outter joint.
crimp both straps.
re install axle.

ah man, you are the best.
just 2 questions,
i noticed you said put the bearing back on the joint, but I didn't see where you said take them off. i dont have to take the bearing off right? just take the whole tripod off?
also, if i need the cramp tool, i guess i can't do this myself. i have to take it in.
damn, anyways takes a lot man

your welcome.
if you can keep the bearings from coming off of the tri pod you are cool. and as far as a crimping tool, you can use side cutters if you have to but boot clamps from pep boys are like 15 bucks.
