Default EG with GSR swap???

My friend is thinking about getting a EG hatch with GSR swap and basic bolt ons, i/h/e, is it worth it, i know a guy with a GSR in his 95 2-door and its not that great, got beat by a RSX Type-S with exhaust, but i hear the GSR motor in the hatch makes the damn thing fly like a bat out hell, just looking for some input to help my friend make a decision. Its also got a JDM front bumper, 17" Rota wheels, dropped and has JDM gauge cluster as well, if that makes a difference in your decision.

Nice setup overall... gsr hatch will run with type S's, even modded ones. mid to high 14's with a regular driver.

I have a 92 Si with a gs-r. This thing runs hard. Getting spanked by a Type S, with just an exhaust?????? I wanna see that race with 2 good drivers!!!! the Civic should get it. My opinion.......

X2 Whats the deal.. My computer went down. But is up now, I'm at work so i'll holla later..

the GSR swapped civic that got beat by the type-S wasnt a hatchback it was a two door, thats why were wondering if the hatch is worth it because we have heard the hatch responds better to the swap than the 2 door does. And the type-s driver had had his car for about 2 weeks and the Civic over 3 years.

But there is a huge diff between an Si and a hatch.
The GSR-hatch should destroy that type-S. But you forgot the most important thing in your post.... how much does he want?!?

owner wants 3500. why is a GSR in a hatch so much different from in the 2-doors???? personally i want the car myself, but its too far away for me to go get it, and ive also had my eye on the k20 swap into the EK series.

Go weigh a hatch... then go weigh an Si, and tell me what you find.
An Si is fullyloaded, PL, PW, Sunroof, Groundeffects..... i could go forever.

Typical hatch weighs 2300lbs. Typical 2 door coupe is about 2600lbs and the 00 Si is even heavier...

My hatch is the DX model and weighs in at 2150lbs. I weigh 240lbs, so ME in my hatch together clock in at 2390lbs, while a driverless coupe can weigh at least 300lbs MORE !

Never seen a full interior hatch run 13's w/ just a gsr swap, they are typically 14 second cars. I have stayed close to a RSX-S with my sohc 1.6 and now with the gsr engine, I can have DC5 ITRs for lunch (modded gsr engine)

It all depends on how strong the motor your using is, meaning the weak ones you hear about like the one you referred to getting beat by an RSX S. Chances are where ever he got that motor from it was beaten to hell in the past owners car. The key is to get a GSR motor with good compression numbers which would mean it was a strong motor like that one guy who said he ran 13.9 im sure that motor was damn strong.
