pretty unsafe for driving but works very well.
Is also pretty hard on the the box itself and drive shafts during turning etc.

It's not really a lsd then, is it?

More of a drag spool kinda thing.

LSD+limited slip
Welded Diff=No slip

Why is it unsafe??

Both wheels spin at same speed around turns, one will be dragged along in essence, at some point in time

Not bad at 20-30 MPH

Highway speed could be a problem

Let's consider tire wear for one thing, the wheels will be at equal speeds regardless and during any kind of turning, this will create accelerated tire wear.

The tire wear results from one driving wheel getting correct traction and one spinning slightly. Lets take it a step further and consider what will happen during rain, or if the driver hits the brakes during a corner. One wheel is already past the point of normal adhesion as it can't move the correct speed when turning. So in limited traction environments once the remaining wheel starts to break loose, the car will become almost uncontrollable. Heavy braking during cornering will cause rather drastic understeer and may be unrecoverable.

Depends upon what sort of "track" you're referring to.

We used to do this to our demolition derby cars . I would never do it to a street car, only a car that makes straight line runs

Right. A "strip" toy, it'd be nice. A "road course" toy, it'd suck and probably put you into a crashing situation.
