Default p28 code 9/16 and safe mode?? help please.

k ive got a really long story about my d16z6 swap. To break it down, I had a fuel delivery problem, it was flooding the engine with fuel. the p28 was throwing a code 9 and 16, 9 being cylinder 1 misfire or sumtin and 16 was a fuel injection delvery. well that made sense. We narrowed it down to the distributor and changed and the problem was gone, but it still continues to throw the same codes and the cars running in safe mode, so like ****,. There is continuity in all the fuel wiring. I am using an obd0-1 conversion harness with a plug n play harness, vehicle is a 90 crx dx, any thoughts?
car basically runs and idles fine, its just running in safe mode so thers ZERO performance

well, my post might only serve as a free bump, but did you remove power to the ecu for like 30 seconds to reset it after you put the new distributor on? that was my first thought. but as for where to go from there. ive got nothing. good luck.

there were about 3-4 cuts where someone tried splicing into before, they are fuel injector wires going into my odb0-1 conversion harness, theyve been conected with some generic wire and taped up...but they have continuity....would unplugging the ecu do anything?

i would deffinetly try the ecu unplug, just to make sure that your computer reset. if that doesnt work though, injectors are where i would look to next. the code 9 should have been fixed by the distributor if the wiring is all correct. so a code 16 is injectors.. i would take a close listen to see if they are clicking.. if there is one that isnt, that might be the culprit. you can also test the resistance of your injectors to see if one or more is bad. good luck

fully unplug the ecu for 10 mintues.

see if that resets it. if not perhaps you still do have a wiring issue.

just gotta hope that ecu is ok, pretty much.

if the ecu was bad, the light would just be solid lit. wouldnt blink or anything. atleast that is what is supposed to happen. but it never hurts to try another p28 if youve got one handy.

you could have left the wiring in obd0 when you converted to mpfi. I say your error is in the wiring?

wiring is all plug and play, its an obd0-1 conversion harness and a compelte engine harness....not saying that isnt casue for error but im gonna check those few cuts real quick.

make sure all your pins are securly seated on your contacts.. if you had any plugs that gave you problems going together, you might have had a pin or 2 pop out of the harness.

If you're using a chipped ECU switch out the chips OR make sure it's secure in its place.
