i'm just starting to research turbos for my GSR. I'm having trouble finding out which turbos are best for which applications so i figured i would ask. I'm building a HSR motor with a final goal of 450-500whp. Can i make this kind of power with a t3/t4 or should ai be looking for somehting bigger?

A plain old T3/T4 isnt going to get it .. you have many options you could go with the differneces being price and/or spool

The tires I am about to list will get you into the HP you want :

T3/T67
SC61
GT30R
GT35R
Smaller PT turbos PT67 etc ...

Most of htese are T3 footprint which alot of manifolds are made for . You can step up to a T4 style for maximum power but loose your bottom end tractability ..

The GT series turbo will spool much quicker due to the Garret Dual BB center sections but they ar enot rebuildable and tend to max out at a lower HP than the normal style turbos ..

I would perosnally go with a GT35R just because it can make 550+HP and still spool it at a decnet RPM

 

how willthe turbos perform at lower power levels? say 350-450 whp

 

Mine would work fine, but your mani would need a T4 flange.
