I am planning on getting a set of wheels in 16x7. What offset should I get? Should I get +40 or +42? My DC is lowered @ 2.25" and I dont want to experience any rubbing. Also for a 7" width wheel what width tire is ideal? Should I go with a 205, 215 or a 225? Thanks for your help

Ah I see. Do you think I will rub with a 215?

the only way to tell if it will rub is put it on and see if it does. also, 215's are more expensive and harder to find. if you get the 205's, get 205/45/16, not 205/40/16. the 40's are smaller than stock and your spedo will be off
dont worry about the 205/40/16, they are the best...the 205/45/16 will be too tall and cause rubbing if your car is too low. the 215 seriers will be way to wide for a lowered teg and if you have camber wear...it will be a tire eater.
how can you assume the 205/40/16 are they best? they aren't even stock size. they will affect your gearing, and your spedo will say that you are going faster than you are. 205/40/16 should be used if and only if 205/45/16 will not fit on your car without problems

you know folks, honda-tech isn't the only site with a search engine to give you useful information. i took two seconds out of my precious time to type in "tire size calculator" on google. i found 106,000 answers in .08 seconds, this being one of the useful ones:

i like that one because you can plug and play different combinations and get EXACT read outs, including how much your speedo will be off, and in which direction.
when people say "SEARCH!", you gotta remember to try more than one resource (not just H-T). seriously, it took me two seconds. Good Luck

when you drive...speedo isn't all that comes into play...if you memorize your rpm, then use that to calculate your speed.
205/40/16 is the best fit tire for your teg if it is lower than about 2 in.
205/45/16 will cause minor rubbing if your fenders are not rolled and your car is lowered about 2 in.
215 will just rub period, if your teg is lowered at about 1.5 in.
these are all based upon stock fenders.
if you are worried about correct speed than my advice is to not cahnge your tire size at all.

205/45/16 with a 2.25"ish drop..rims are 16x7 +40 offset...my car was a little bit lower before, and when i hit big dips on the hwy, it did rub on the fender linder..as for doing U turns, it rubs a little but nothing crazy.
why would rpm be off...rpm is only revolution per min. of the motor...
motor spining and tranny spining are different cases...and besides...like i said if you are scared of your speedo being off...just leave your tire size and rims the way they are, crybabies.

when i say that the rpm will be off, i mean that with the different tire sizes, the same engine rpm in the same gear will yield different actual speeds. the tach will still reflect the actual engine rpm. sorry about the confusion

agreed. i am lowered 2 in as well on 205/45/16 and have never ever had rubbing. i had 205/40 for a while and it rode horribly and didnt offer enough protection for my rims (i bent forged rims). seeing youre from ny (lots of potholes), go with the 45 series with a 40 offset and 7in rim.
btw, check this out for stock sizes: http://www.whalentire.com/tire...=8298

OK, you didn't post an opinion. You tried to pass off your immense "knowledge" as fact. Not gonna work, ********...

Looks like I'll be getting a 16X7" wheel w/a +40 offset and 205 width tire. However I have another dilema
. The tires that I want (the Bridgestone Potenza S-03's) only come with in a 50 or a 55 series depth
. Do you think I will rub with either
? I really want to give the RE050A's a try but they will rub for sure (225 width wheel
). Do you guys know of a tire that will provide performance (hot, cold, and wet weather) similar to or greater than the S-03's? Thanks!

I run 205/50/16s on my Enkei "Rally" wheels for street use and have NEVER rubbed. The sidewalls are kind of big (but not stupid looking as some will try to make you believe), but it's still an acceptable size. 55 series is out of the question though, unless you want to look like an idiot...
