I was wondering...

What is the difference between Type-R tail lights and OEM for 94-97 model year?

When i got my '96 GS-R it came with shitty euros (one was even cracked) and i wanna go with a more JDM look.. but i look up OEM tail lights and they look the same as the JDM... I herd that they have different lights or something.. can someone help me out - pictures would be nice

um.. 98+ usdm tails are all red.. jdm have orange corners like 94-97 usdm tegs.. i think the euro r might have a clear marker in there.. not positive though. just buy some stock tail lights and get em in asap!

 

jdm rear tails are not smoked and do not have reflectors on them... whereas the us are smoked and have reflectors...

 

And there is some sort of bulb difference. I think the USDM does not have a far corner bulb, but the JDM does have that bulb.

 

there is no difference between regular usdm tail lights and usdm type r tail lights.
i think jdm tail lights have no reflectors, and the red around the lights is a different shade of red. oh, and all jdm turn signals are amber.

but there is no distinction between type r and say, LS tail lights.

usdm does have that bulb. i've had to replace it.

What about this lighting difference?

when your lights are on with stock tail lights your corner lights light up on USDM but not JDM? because on the euros the corner lights are clear and they're annoying as hell... does the JDM use the amber corners for turn signals?

you got it backwards...my usdm 1994-1997, and my 98-01 teggy tail lights had that far corner bulb. My UKDM ITR tail lights dont have that far corner bulb. As for the 94-97 jdm/usdm and itr tail lights, they look almost identical unless your a jdm ***** and worry that the outter lenses around the signals/brake/reverse lamp is darker than the other.

This guy says these are Type-R JDM and that they don't have the corner lights.. does that mean the corner light is the turn signal? because my tail lights now use the middle light as the blinker:

He is reffering to the Triangular reflector at the end corner of the taillight. On US spec cars, there is a Red Reflector there and a 168 size wedge bulb on the inside.

This has nothing to do with the Turn signals.

FYI all us spec cars are required to have an Amber Refector in the front side, either on the headlight corner or on the bumper. The Rear also needs to have a Red Reflector on the rear side either on the tailight or bumper.

In Japan there is no requirement for this, that is why you see clear corners and talight lights with no reflectors.

Thanks for clearning that up for me.. i just want a clean jdm look and figured i'd start with the tail lights (rims are next)

94-97 DC Integra taillight. Amber turn signals...



98-01 DC Integra taillight. Notice the only thing NOT red is the reverse light compartment:


euro type R taillights.....but this isn't the real deal....just altezza style clones. But they are similar to the picture below......notice the clear turn signal compartment:



of course...we all know with the USDM Type R....there is no distinction between those taillights and other integra taillights. The JDM one just has no side reflector and has amber corners. I couldn't find a good pic showing the "reflectorless" JDM taillights, but if someone has one....please feel free to post it.

98+ JDM tail lights are the same as the usdm 98+ except!! they have the amber turns..

diff from the 94-97 which have the smoked surrounding

btw...anyone out there with pics of the corner OF the actual JDM type R tails?

 

search aruond in ITR forum.. some guy had them on his car at the same time.. 1 on each side so it shows it clearly.. also there is a mspaint pic floating around that could of answred all this in 1 post but i couldnt find it

my ukdm itr tail lights.... (just whoring the pic) lol.....not a great picture but you can see that the signal lens has a pinkish tint to them, instead of amber or solid red

maybe I'm blind.....or maybe I worked too hard today...not trying to insult or flame, but that sure as hell looks like a reflector to the right of the signal light to me.......you have a better close up of this?

 

Am i the only person who cant tell the difference between 94-97 usdm tails and the JDM tails like in the picture on the black si-vtec? I dont know but they look the same to me.
