Default Worth Replacing the mounts on D-Series Swap?

I'm going to be doing a d-series swap sometime in the future and I think I have everything covered (wiring and hardware). One thing I was wondering, however, should I replace the stock mounts with new OEM ones when I do the swap? I have a D15B1 88 STD with around 110k on the motor. I don't know the condition of the mounts minus what I can see and I don't even know the prices of 4 new OEM mounts so that may factor into whether or not it's worth it.

I am on a budget so if it's one of those things that wouldn't make a huge difference then I guess I'll skip it. But (not knowing exactly how bad used mounts can affect vibration, ride, power etc.) should I do it? I want a stock-like feel out of my swap and I would make the grand assumption that replaced mounts would make the engine quiter in the bay and just feel tighter all around. But maybe I'm very wrong.

Thanks to any and all help!

If you want a stock like feel, then definitely replace your mounts. They have aged to a point where what you feel now is normal but compared to what came off the factory line would probably be atrocious. If you do want something with a little more umph in it and not have to worry about falling apart on you anytime soon, look into replacement torque mounts made by JimFab.

Hmm, are the JimFab ones like rocks, though? I don't want the bushings to be so hard that this thing shakes the car. I'll def look into them though, thanks!

edit: i Checked their site but it only had listed the Civic/CRX "front mount" image. I'm assuming they make the rest of the set... anyone know the price of all of them together from JimFab? They look awesome

Invest in $5 bucks worth of 1/4" and 3/8" vaccuum line. You can get it almost EVERYWHERE, cut a few 2" snips and push them into the mount. The more the merrier, and since they're hollow they allow for flex but definitely stiffen those stock mounts up. And its only $5 bucks. - Darrell

wow that's an awesome idea, but my budget isn't that tight... if I can get new mounts for a decent price i'll go for it.

but if all else fails that'll be perfect maybe even as a temporary fix

this is a cheap/easy fix and you can use the money you save for other goodies!

Damn, I feel bad for the person who spends that amount of money on mounts for a D-Series. I spent 75$ for the mounts, to get them powder-coated a nifty black, and to have them shipped. For the feel, the only time you get vibration is sub-1,200RPM, every time else it is nifty.

I was just guessing a price, but that should be around ballpark figure though, because i called the Honda dealership and average price per mount is anywhere between $60-$80 per mount depending on which mount it is. Either i dont feel like spending hundreds on dollars on motor mounts when you could pretty much get the same results when you DIY!
